DDR4 Cas latency

bought some 2400 speed ddr4 for my skylake build and the motherboard runs it at 2133 and timings are at 15...The specs say this is cas 12 latency.

I understand why the mobo defaults it down to 2133, because anything beyond that is overclocking...but why up the timings?

Can I just enable XMP and it correct frequency and timings? Or do I have to manually do it all?

With timings are they all the same? Like 12 12 12 36?

Also if having to set them manually, what do you figure for the last number?

Try enabling XMP first, and if that doesnt work then you will have to manually enter the timings. I'm not sure about the last number though.
