My CPU and motherboard both say that the DDR4 runs at 2133mhz. Most of the DDR ram for sale is faster than 2133mhz. I bought ram that's 2400mhz. I'm not interested in overclocking because I want a very stable computer, and I read that overclocking ram makes hardly no difference.

So if I run my ram at 2400mhz, that's what the ram is desingned for, but not the CPU or motherboard. Would running at 2400mhz be considere overclocking? Or should I run at 2133mhz if I don't want to overclock?

Solution
Basically what you are doing is running the DRAM to spec, and technically, OCing the the MC (memory controller) as it's native to 2133, (but not really, most all Z170 CPUs are capable of 2400 at stock
