Ddr4 or ddr3

I am getting a new processor g4400 in ga H61 board gigabyte. My question is does g4400 skylake need Ddr4 ram. Do I have to change my board

Skylake G4400 is DDR3 and 4 capable.

as far as i know,a cpu doesn't "need" RAM,as long as the chipset is supported by your motherboard it doesn't matter which RAM you have as long as your motherboard supports it too

That pentium support either ddr3l or ddr4. The DRAM controller is integrated into the CPU both the mobo cpu need to support the memory types.

Correct me if im wrong but aren't h61 boards socket 1155. And they only use DDR3 ram or am I reading that wrong.

That board does not work with the new processors their different sockets.
That board is socket 1155 and the processor is 1151 those numbers must match.

An H61 motherboard has an LGA 1155 socket, but a Intel G4400 CPU is a LGA 1151 socket. These parts will not work together.
