im using ddr4 3000 mhz corsair vengeance rgb pro ram 2x16gb sticks, the default timing is 15-17-17-35 if i want to overclock and change the timings, can someone here please give me a starting point on speed and timings. im using a msi b450 tomahawk board, a 750 watt gold cert power supply, and a ryzen 5 2600 cpu and a rtx 2070 founders edition video card. also xmp keeps the cas latency at 16 not 15. also is 1.400 volts ok as well?

Solution
CAS is 16 instead of 15 because you have Geardown Mode ON. It doesn't allow uneven numbers.
You should absolutely turn off PowerDown mode, adds 4-5 ns latency which is quite huge.
Get Ryzen Dram Calculator, plug in your board, speed, RAM IC. Values are just guidelines, wont work automagically for everyone.

Run a bunch of stability tests: Testmem5, Memtest86 and play games for an hour or two. If you crash or get blue screens, it is unstable. Why is it unstable? Figure it out. RAM doesn't tell anyone. It just fails.
