DDR3 and DDR4 are almost exactly the same aside from the lower voltage and DDR4 having twice as many internal banks per chip. The problem is DDR4 has higher latency (2400-15-15-15 for DDR4 vs 2400-11-11-11 for DDR3) and that will make it slower than an otherwise same-speed DDR3 DIMM.
Price is also an issue with DDR4 costing over 50% more than DDR3.
The only PCs on the market that can use DDR4 right now are LGA2011-3 CPUs on x99-based boards so there is no point in worrying about DDR4 unless you want to build around an i7-5820k/5930k/5960X. If you do, there is no point in thinking about DDR3 since LGA2011-3 only works with DDR4.
