Hi all! i have an i5 12600k and a Gigabyte MB

ATM i have 16GB at 4800mhz but i need to go 32GB.
Which is the best compromise between cost and speed? 6000 mhz CL32 can be enough or better search 7000 mhz?
Main usage will be gaming with BF 2042, fortnite, Jedi survivor, FF7 remake intergrade, Yuzu Emu etc
thanks!

Your board only shows up to 6000MHz RAM for its specifications. To me that means that going higher than that you are increasing your chances of it not working. I would then go for a CL30 kit since the overall cost difference isn't very much ($95 vs $88). Here is one at a good price. It isn't on the QVL but I personally have never had an issue.

Prices on RAM are very low already. DDR5 will probably continue to reduce in price, but we cannot be sure because the manufacturers will cut back on production to increase prices. In 2 months I don't know how much cheaper things will get so buying now isn't the worst idea.

There are two issues:
1. Can you add 16gb and expect it to work properly?
2. How much is 6000 speed worth to you?

Take 2 first.
It seems that there is only marginal benefit to faster speed using intel processors for gaming:
A couple of studies, not exactly your situation, but you get the idea.

on 1.
I assume 32gb is needed. Ram is cheap enough so that is a good idea.
One might try to add a 16gb kit, but that is not guaranteed to work properly.
You seem to be inclined to buy a replacement kit.
2 x 16gb at whatever speed your cpu and motherboard supports is fine.
Keep the old ram as backup or sell it.
I doubt you would actually see any more benefit @6000 than 4800.

i was going to buy it on amazon.it but i found a small difference on kits here the differences, apart 10€ cost:

Thus, the kit CMK32GX5M2B6000C36 proposes timings of 36-38-38-76 and voltages of 1.25V. The second one, the CMK32GX5M2D6000C36 offers latencies of 36-36-76 for a voltage of 1.35V. Moreover, it is possible that the chips used are different.

very technical here... whats the difference, what is suggested to buy?
lower voltage is better or worst for OC?
