De-RAID & Re-RAID? HELP!

Building a new P4, 1.6GHz using an ASUS P4T-E M/B and an IWILL SIDE-100 add-on RAID card.

Plan on taking the two (2) IBM 30GB 75GXP H/D’s out of a ABIT KT-7R system now using RAID. (Striping).

So, my question is this:

Do I FDISK/format the RAID array first while it is in the ABIT system and then install them in the ASUS P4 system? And hold off loading the O/S until it is in the new system?

Do I also need to do a low-level format?

I want to be assured that any RAID formatting has been removed from them prior to installing in the new system, and my build expertise is limited.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

You need to go into the RAID BIOS (Ctrl-H, if I remember right), and delete the RAID. Then, put the hard drives in the new system, and recreate the RAID.

I tried to set up two drives that were in a RAID without deleting the RAID, not fun. Took me a while to figure out what I had done wrong.

Thanks FatBurger! I kind of suspected that and knew I could get into trouble real fast if I didn't do it right.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
