Question Dead PC - - - can anyone help ?

After messing up my motherboard I had it replaced with a second-hand one, connected everything correctly, yet my PC remained silent.

I tested the PSU with a jumper test which it failed, still nothing.

But when I turned on the PSU switch it lit up this red "PLUG_8PIN_PWR" LED which isn't explained in the manual.

Could this mean my PC isn't getting enough power somehow and that maybe a cable got burnt?

I replaced the 850W PSU with a working 750W one but again, total silence.
I also took out most of my RAM sticks but I think one of it's PSU cables is dead.

Could anyone please help me out here? I'm going completely crazy from not being able to make music any more or play any games.

Thank you.

"PLUG_8PIN_PWR is right there at top of MB just next to that light. You need to have exact same cable connected to PSU to provide power to CPU etc. Looks like nothing is connected to it.

The manual states: "DO NOT forget to connect BOTH of the 4-pin and 8-pin EATX12 V power plug".
But before these 2 plugs weren't connected and my pc worked fine.

The 4-pin is connected; should I connect the PCI-Express plug into the 8-pin plug ("EATX12V_1")?

Do you mean those two 4-pin and 8-pin EATX12 V power plugs to the left of the led?
The 4-pin is connected but I can't connect the 8-pin one (which is a PCI-Express 2+6 cable). The 2-part of the cable won't fit.

Also I got this:
I connected the CPU cables exactly as they were before I installed the other motherboard.
Here are the connections to the cpu cooler and fan:

They lead to this cable at the back :

But part of that cable has this loose part I can't see a connector for and which I don't recall having disconnected:

Yes EAX 12v. 8pin is required and eventual 4 pin or another 8 pin is just add on to it. Required only to provide more power if needed. PCIe leads are differently keyed because of different voltages so they fit only GPUs.
EAX 12v are all same voltage, one row is +12v and parallel row is ground. EAX 12v 8pin on the cable is usually split as 4+4 and PCIe as 6+2

My pc worked before without these so I don't have these 2 cables. And my Corsair AX PSU states you are only allowed to use Corsair AX cables with it or is this just a recommendation? The PSU is more than 8 years old so I can't buy the same brand cables for it any more.

No. You DO NOT connect PCIE 8pin plug to motherboard.
You connect CPU ATX12V 8pin plug to it (EPS12V).

Those are different connectors.
They look similar but are keyed differently so you can not put wrong plug in the wrong socket (what you're trying to do).

Then get a new PSU, if you can't find missing original cable.

Modular cables are not compatible between different model PSUs.
Using wrong cables will damage/kill hardware connected.

What I need is an 8-pin cable to the PSU on one side and an 8 + 4 (or 4+2) cable to the motherboard on the other side, compatible with my AX PSU.
Hopefully I can still find one ...
Only cable compatible with your specific PSU model can be used.
Wrong/incompatible cable will kill your pc.
So - be extra careful with this.

Before this, I had an 8-pin cable to the PSU on one side and an 8-pin cable to the motherboard on the other side.
This has worked ever since I bought it, WITHOUT the extra 4-pin connection.
How can this have worked all this time but now not any more??

And even buying a new PSU is a problem since the cables have different connections that don't fit into my motherboard any more, so will I have to buy a new pc because of an incompatible cable??

You don't even have the 8 pin connected. Is this the same exact motherboard as the old one?

Did you read compatibility list for this cable?
Is your specific PSU model listed there?
If not, then you can expect fireworks.

Only compatible with Corsair modular power supplies such as: <br/>AX760I AX860I AX1200I AX1500I AX760 AX850 AX860 HX1200I HX1000I HX850I HX750I RM1000I RM850I RM750I RM650I RM1000X RM850X RM755. 00X X RM650X RM550X RM1000 RM850 RM750/RM650 RM550 RM450 SF750 SF600 SF450 HX750 HX1200 TX850M TX750M TX650M CX750M CX650M CX550M

Are the 2 top parts (the ones that say "TUV") supposed to be touching each other? My 2x4 pin cable has them the other way around: the left 2-pin part is on the left while other one is on the right. Could that be the reason for the connector not fitting into the 8-pin slot?
