Dead pixels.

I'm about to buy my first LCD.
After I get it, what's the best way to look for dead pixels?
I've read that some pixels may not be completely dead, and thus you won't notice them when they are certain colors.

That's right, they may not be totally dead. Here's what to do. First set ur desktop to 100% white, look closely to see if there are any. Then set to 100% black, and look. Repeat for red, blue, and green. I would reccomend aggainst lookin for em...u will only aggrivate urself when u see one.
