Saw one at a pawnshop today for 899$ It had 16gb ram non k version i7 8700 and a gtx1070. They did not let me open case so no clue the brands psy wattage. Is this a good deal for 899? I have a 6700k with 8gb ram. My system needs a new gpu/ psu. Worth the upgrade? Hoping to game at 1440p 144hz when i get monitor money buy 1080 144 is ok also? Will i get good frame rates? I dont really overclock now... either

For you, that's going to be more expensive than just buying a new power supply, and a 1070ti or maybe a 1080 for your current pc. (About $600-$700 for both parts.) Considering the 6700k won't bottleneck either. That would be a better deal than the laptop.

Also if they wouldn't let you look at it that's kinda shady.

Well i figure a 1070 and a new psu would run me 500 then if o want 16gb ram my board only holds two slots so id have to spend 160 on it. Puts me at 650$ i called the shop guy said 800 out the door. So 150 for a new case ssd and hard drive better cpu/board? dont seem to bad

For $720 of upgrades you could turn your desktop into a gaming machine that will last longer than the laptop.

You shouldn't need a new CPU or Motherboard.

Overclock your CPU and you should be able to play 1440P/144hz on medium-ish settings or 1080P/144hz on high/ultra settings.
