Now that I'm looking to purchase this proc, I can't seem to find a decent deal on one. Any advice? The only decent prices I can find, under $240, are at microcenter and the closest one is a plane ride away.

Right now there don't seem to be many deals going on, it's not 'sale' season like it was during the holidays. You never know, sometimes sales happen for no reason but most of the 4690k's are likely going to be at typical retail around $230-240. Microcenter does have good deals but their locations are somewhat limited and like you said, for a lot of us it means a plane ride away. They don't ship cpu's. The next biggest sale is likely to be around next thanksgiving but there may be sales for things like memorial day (may 25th 2015). That's only a couple of months away so it may be worth waiting. No guarantees what will be on sale though. Waiting for the release of the new broadwell/skylake cpu's likely won't make much of a difference. Looking at this past holiday season, black friday and cyber monday - the newer 4690k was on sale for less than the slightly older 4670k which it replaced and the 4670k stayed at standard price.

Thanks for the tips. Too bad I didn't think to stop by Microcenter last time I was in Houston. The prices have come down on ebay so I picked one up from a trusted seller today.

Thanks again!

Glad you got a good deal on ebay. It's not that I don't trust ebay, I've bought several things off there personally. It can be hit or miss though. Waiting on deals from etailers, the next big deal will likely be on broadwell or skylake cpu's next black fri/cyber monday if this past holiday season was any indication.
