You got that one right. Thus I'll hate on Minecraft all I want.

Unnecessary rage seems to be the scourge of the internet.

C'est la vie. Hate on a game you don't even play if that's your thing.

Exactly. There's a reason I don't play it. It has nothing behind it - no storyline, no effects, nothing. And that "creativity" is a lie. You want to REALLY create something, grab a 3D design program and go for it. Otherwise, it's just LEGOs on the computer. I'd love this game to die, it's a shame on the gaming industry. People are ready to settle for some mindless ugly crap and call it a game - no wonder everyone is so happy with tablets and smartphones allegedly becoming a primary platform. Hell, even consoles are better that this BS, after all, there're good games there!

You might not want to believe this, but I doubt that the majority of Minecraft players play it exclusively; it's not as if logging into Minecraft immediately removes all other games from your system.

I just don't get why you seem to be demanding that the entire world share your view of what is and isn't interesting. Do you really want to be that guy?

Not biting on the last one. If the whole world would share the same POV as me, it might actually improve and that's boring, I've got no one to flame/troll/argue with.

And I'm not saying that Minecraft players play it exclusively. I'm just surprised they spent any amount of time on this game. It's utterly pointless.

You forgot to add "in my opinion" to that last sentence.

Yeah. Because I'm sick of people who keep saying "in my opinion" or "just my two cents" or whatnot. OBVIOUSLY it's my opinion, duh!..

... doesn't mean some other people don't share it.

Presenting it in your original form, as a statement of fact, implies that you want it known that "utterly pointless" is the axiomatic view of Minecraft. It clearly isn't.

Interesting that you don't go for FPS games. What type do you enjoy? (No, this is not a lead up to an insult, I'm genuinely interested.)

Well, if that's how YOU choose to read it, that's fine. I'm not adding any stupid tags to my post just because some people might mistake my view for an axiom (it won't hurt them, though xD)

I DO go for FPS, but I'm not a big fan. RPG or TPS (Mass Effect, TW2, DAO, Space Marine, Mafia 2) or a d20 RPG (NWN/NWN2) or a good RTS (Dawn of War 1/2) or even Mirror's Edge, that's great stuff for me.

To be honest, as a mainly RPG/RTS guy myself, I'd agree with you with the majority of that, although I wasn't sold on NWN2 as much as NWN. I also liked the first Dragon Age and desperately wanted to like the second.

NWN2 is an interesting experience. Upgrade in terms of characters' personalities, downgrade in terms of story. Upgrade in terms of graphics as far as landscape goes, RIDICULOUS spell effects - Hellball, Missile Storm and Greater Ruin were absolutely stunning in NWN1, to the point where I was smiling madly; and NWN2 spell effects look like something from 15 years ago.

DAO is absolutely great, but I can't make myself play it recently (still didn't finish it). Can't decide what to do next... spend like 30 minutes in the party camp going through equipment, get bored, close the game. I have DA2 but won't play till I'm done with DAO, but apparently it won't be as great as TW2, which totally nailed every imaginable aspect except for making the game long enough to fully enjoy it :)

I can also add I loved Morrowind but couldn't play Oblivion for more than 5 hours. Think I'll like Skyrim? 😀

I loved Morrowind, but only played Oblivion for a little while and never more than a couple of hours into the main quest. I've been heartened to hear reviews of Skyrim saying that it's closer to Morrowind, though - got to be worth a shot!

Forgot to mention Dawn of War - the first one was outstanding, but I've yet to pick up the second. An honourable mention in that category should go to Supreme Commander, even if it did fry my machine...

Never played that.

Just Cause 2 is great too, btw, do try it!

DoW 2 is less of a strategy and more RPG. You get a few SM squads, can pick up and change equipment (weapons, armor, accessories, beacons, etc.) and level them up, improving stats and getting more abilities. But there's no building and vehicles (although I've heard there ARE those in the expansions, didn't play them yet) and you only get to play Space Marines - and they no longer fill the battlefield with all those great battlecries (Grey Knights were the best on that front). Somehow it still manages to be a good game, though, don't be scared off by my feedback! :)

NWN2 requires, at least for nvidia-users, to dig up a really old driver to minimize the graphical glitches that rip through the entire game and experience. Someday I'll revisit it. I can't stand Dragon Age Origins. I wanted to love it. I've started over from scratch twice but every time I reach the "fade", I fade out and stop playing due to boredom. I think DAO is just an update to NWN2 in a lot of ways. On a low end system, you might mistake one for the other.

DAO is not d20 and yes, the combat is quite boring, but the dialogues are quite worth it. I prefer TW2 combat - I already told you my favorite playstyle 😀

I didn't experience any graphical glitches with NWN2 running the second latest beta driver (285.79, IIRC).

I play LEGO since 4 years old. And i very proud to be a LEGO Fan. But i didnt play minecraft b4,

My understanding:
LEGO, or Games like Minecraft are design for certain group of people.
Example, football. If you are very dumpy, slow, fragile, weak, lack of confidence, DEFINITELY you dont want to play FOOTBALL, because you cant enjoy it. You might enjoy watching football match. But if i ask you to go play, rather kill you.
Minecraft, a platform that let people express their creativity, They love to build something from nothing. freedom to express their creativity. MINECRAFT is not a game. IS AN ACHIEVEMENT dude.
