Hey everyone, Would I be able to put a light graphics card in an FX-6100 based system with a 400w power supply. The PSU has one six pin connector, and it's 80 plus white. I was looking at an R7 260x, but it says the PSU minimum is 450w. So yeah, i want about r7 260x performance, but I need it to run on a 400w power supply. Oh I'm also buying the GPU used, and the budget is under $50, Thanks Everyone!

The first link in my sig offers good advice for choosing a GOOD QUALITY power supply.

That said, I found the Neo Eco 400 - if this is what the label says:

then that 30A on the 12V rail means this is effectively a 360W PSU.

95W PSU (let's say 115W for safety), and, say, 70W for the motherboard, drives, etc puts us at 185W total. That leaves about 175W left for the GPU.

You probably COULD go with an RX570 if you find one that only needs a single 6-pin connector. That's a 150W card, though, so if you max out (or slightly overclock... probably not a good idea) the CPU, and everything's running full tilt, you're then getting close to this PSU's...

I would get an RX570 if you have a good PSU. What's your +12V amps and how many rails/lines?

Post a picture of your PSU label.

It’s an Antec Neo Eco 400C. Can’t get a picture of it right now.
Wouldn’t a 570 get bottlenecked hard? Also remember my budget is under $50, I haven’t ever seen a 570 go for that cheap.

I got an RX580 for 140$CA (96$USD) a year ago. I don't know if your Antec is a good one because there is bad Antec ones.
If you OC your CPU you won't really see bottleneck unless you play online CPU intensive games like BFV 64 player.

My motherboard isn’t good enough for an overclock. And an overclock would suck even more form the PSU, wouldn’t it?

If it were a known, high quality model, I'd say you can be fairly confident. But, I have my doubts as to the quality of this one.

Cards like the 750Ti, 1050Ti, etc., perform less than the RX570, but also draw less power. The RX470 performs a little less than the RX570, but also is a 120W card. If you can find that one inexpensively, it would be a good idea.

Or, if you want to play it absolutely extra-cautious, you can get a 570 and underclock/undervolt it slightly.

So RX 470? That sounds good! I might go with that. Thanks!
