So I used neweggs psu calculator and roughly its saying i should have around 918w which im currently using a 500w. So I'm looking for something higher but also in the process I dont want to break the bank either. I was thinking 1000w or so that way theres alittle extra in case i upgrade somewhere in the future. But with so many mixed reviews on everyone its hard to pin down to one specific. I've seen kentek listed as bad but in one article kentek was good, as ive also seen raidmax and other known brands have the same mixed. I'm kinda of set on the kentek 1000W because its somewhat cheap but also i see a coolmax ZU for about the same. Like i stated I kind of want to keep it cheap as much as I can but also not fry my pc.

current pc:
AMD FX-6300
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
ASUS Radeon R9 270X 2GB
Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8gb

fx6300/270x/decent mobo and it came up with 1kw? thats absolutely absurd.

buy an xfx 550w, your rig uses well under 550w and xfx is a reputable, well-built brand. coolmax/raidmax/kentek (all crap brands) and any other brand where you can get a 1kw psu for under $200USD are absolutely garbage and cause more harm than good.

Even placing it as a "regular" which I'm sure means low end mobo its still 887w. I'm currently running 500w now. Also I was looking at recommended specs gut the vga alone asks for 500w which is why I was thinking higher but maybe I'll just shoot to 600w give it alittle leeway.

This is why I asked when it comes to psu I really know nothing about them.

heh you could use an fx8350 and add a second 270x and not hit anywhere near ~900w.

you dont need anything more than a 550w, and thats still allowing room for upgrades. just make sure it isnt a junk unit and youll be perfectly fine

I might go with the EVGA 850w then its almost the same price overall more bang for the buck in reality. Plus if i ever wanted to crossfire I could have that option and not worry about it.
