Decent rig for around 1000$?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for looking into this. I recently turned 16 and received quite a sum of money as occasion. Thus, I decided I wanted to get off the crappy Sony Vaio I'm typing this from, and purchase a gaming rig to last until I get sent off to college (2.5 years). I have about 1000$ to blow, and I've never built a computer before. I don't know if I should go with building my own or settling with a used rig off eBay/ just buying a pre-built.
ANY insight would help me greatly!!!

imo there is plenty of infor from here and off the web that you can use to put a good system together. Everyone had to start somewhere, when it comes down to it putting a computer together is not all that hard. Hell if a backwoods redneck like me can do it anyone can lol. You already have done step one, asking questions.
