Hey, im mostly an rpg/mmorpg player, and work on softwares like UE4 and unity, and i was going to get a new system from scratch. Iv decided on the other components, but still undecided on the GPU part. which GPU would be suitable without being overkill?

Specs in mind:-(just core stuff, PSU and peripheral costs not included)
CPU:- AMD fx 6300 (6 cores edition)
Ram:- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB
MOBO:- Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT
HDD:- WD blue 500gb
Max Budget for the GPU is 16k ish

Solution

then one of the psus i mentioned earlier and a gtx 750ti from my earlier recommendation. buying a high end r9 270x or a gtx 960 will prevent you from buying a better psu. see if these match your budget:
Seasonic S12II 520 Watts PSU
http://www.flipkart.com/seasonic-s12ii-520-watts-psu/p/itmd5xz5hzvzt9cx?pid=PSUD5XZ4KFH65H9E&ref=L%3A7570723070309257083&srno=p_3&query=power+supply&otracker=from-search
Seasonic S12G-550 550 Watts PSU
http://www.flipkart.com/seasonic-s12g-550-550-watts-psu/p/itmduvefhzc9pauk?pid=PSUDUVEFT48QHPTH&ref=L%3A7570723070309257083&srno=p_6&query=power+supply&otracker=from-search
Sapphire AMD/ATI R7 265 2 GB DDR5 Graphics Card...
at the lower end of your budget:
ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 750 2GB 2 GB DDR5 Graphics Card
http://www.flipkart.com/zotac-nvidia-gtx-750-2gb-2-gb-ddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdz8fsvqvyc4zg?pid=GRCDZ8FS3XTS4YQ9&ref=L%3A-8565793922879632296&srno=b_1
MSI GeForce GTX 750Ti 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
http://www.flipkart.com/msi-geforce-gtx-750ti-2-gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdtpaatsqpfghr?pid=GRCDTPAATSQPFGHR&ref=L%3A-8565793922879632296&srno=b_8

at the upper end would be a radeon r9 270 or 270x or geforce gtx 960.

what is your psu model? if the psu is inadequate, there's no point in getting a gaming gfx card. the case needs to be able to house the gfx card.

a seasonic s12ii 520 or s12G series will be able to run these cards very well.

My friend has the same specs and he use a gtx 750ti gpu.He runs GTA 5 in ultra sett at 45-50 FPS and Witcher 3 in high setting at steay 30 FPS in 1366*768 res.
I recommend you a Nvidia gpu because lots of games now start using Nvidia gameworks and physx. You will get much detail and perfection on Nvidia GPU as compare to AMD GPU.
I suggest you a Nvidia Gtx 960 at 17000 in snapdeal or gtx 660 at 13000.
If you need a Amd gpu go for r9 270x at 14000 at snapdeal.

Thanks.

like i said, im a mmorpg/RPG genre game players.. so i dont really want to overkill in terms of GPU as well.. wont the 960 be overkill for the type of games i play?

it will be, but more gfx power is always better. however, if your psu is inadequate, it'll cause problems during gaming.

No, the GTX 960 is only a medium power card. GTX 970 or 980 would be overkill.

well, my total budget for just the CPU is around 40k

the above mentioned CPU+RAM+MOBO+HDD costs around 19.6k, so i have roughly 20k left.

So was looking for something within that.

i don't see a budget for the psu. how will you buy it?

psu + GPU is the rest of the money remaining!!

Solution

i could go for 270x + Corsair VS550 550 Watt PSU.. or is that psu not good enough?

okay thanks :) .

not always. since these share gpus, these are likely to be phased out. this is why you don't see a lot of radeon hd 7790 (same gpu as 260x) and radeon hd 7850 (as 265/370).

Maybe not always. But it does happen often.

AMD current market share is only 25% and a lot of their cards remain unsold.
And we don't see a lot of HD 7790's and HD 7850's because those GPUS's are two generations old now. But when R9 270,280,290 debuted, I vividely remember that HD 7790 and HD 7850 were widely available. 260X/265 is just 1 generation old.

And BTW, http://www.amazon.in/XFX-Radeon-Double-Dissipitation-FX-785A-CDFC/dp/B007MJURZ0/

sellers won't sell under a certain price point amd has already set for them. if they do, they'd get sued. so unless amd lowers prices for the cards, you won't see cheaper cards in the market. either amd absorbs the cost of unsold stuff (which they've been doing for a while now) or lets the unsold stock run out. that 7850 link belongs the latter situation. now compare your posted link to the one i posted. the r7 265 is a lot cheaper - 15k INR vs 265's 13750 INR. by your own information you refuted your own claim:

you're saying gpus, but what you're really referring to are the gfx cards. the "older" but minor-tweaked gpus are still inside the 360 and 360 cards. it's a small nitpick but important in this context. the r9 270, 280 and 290 all have different gpus from the 265 and 260x. when the latest gen launches, the older get sticks around until stock runs out.

So i went to the computer hub yesterday to get quotations and stuff, and this is what i cam up with after going to like 10 ish shops..

CPU:- amd fx 6300 (7250 inr)
GPU:- sapphire radeon r9 270x OC BOOST 2GB DDR5 (13300 inr)
RAM:- 8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (3800 inr)
MOBO:- Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT (2975 inr)
HDD:- 500GB WD Blue (2975 inr)
PSU:- Corsair 550W (3100 inr)
Cabinet:- Zebronics SPY 2 (i am going to get external cooling fans, so not going for a higher end Cabinet) (700 inr)

The total cost after vat comes to around 35k. So i have around 10k leftover after this. Any improvements on the stuff??

which corsair psu? if it's the vs or gs series, neither are good quality and can not match the performance of seasonic. the psu is the last thing you should neglect in a gaming pc.

from the price it looks like the corsair ram is a single dimm, not a dual channel kit. if you're buying single stick now and have expectation about adding another later, you should know that this does not always work. motherboards and memory vendors have validated dual channel kits.

your motherboards have two revisions. one revision doesn't support the fx 6300, another does. the one that does is GA-78LMT-S2PT (rev. 4.x), the one with 3.x series doesn't support the fx6300.
here are links to both revisions:
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2PT (rev. 3.1)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4129#
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2PT (rev. 4.x)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4298#

can't comment of the case as i can't find a decent look at it.

you have 10K left over, use it to buy a better quality psu (like the one i linked earlier), replace the single stick dimm with a dual channel kit. get a better motherboard if possible. if you replace the parts with these, i think it'll still stay within your budget:

motherboard:
MSI 970 GAMING Motherboard

memory kit options (the more expensive ones will push over budget):

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC DRAM (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R)
http://www.flipkart.com/corsair-vengeance-ddr3-8-gb-2-x-4-gb-pc-dram-cmz8gx3m2a1600c9r/p/itmddca5zbuhqesh?pid=RAMDDC9YQNNXFY3H&ref=L%3A-6660143861507800620&srno=p_11

G.Skill Sniper DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC DRAM (F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR)
http://www.flipkart.com/g-skill-sniper-ddr3-8-gb-2-x-4-gb-pc-dram-f3-12800cl9d-8gbsr/p/itmd2rysgnzymxvq?pid=RAMD2RYRXMDFERF6&ref=L%3A3016389023951438761

g.skill ripjaws 2x 4GB ddr3 1600 will also work but i couldn't find a kit. you can check if any of these kits will work on your chosen motherboard by checking the memory support list. you can also go to corsair and g.skill's website and find out which motherboards they work on. use the model number, the one in brackets () for precise identification.

power supply:

Seasonic S12II 520 Watts PSU

8000 would go wayy overboard for the motherboard at the moment, but i can definitely go for the psu. ANy other motherboards that would work with the fx 6300??

Thats still going around 7k. i would have liked something around 5k for the mobo at the most, as getting the psu would increase the overall budget as well, and there is the VAT charges on top as well
