Question deciding on a laptop

i was looking into a light weight laptop for my school work and just general stuff i was looking at the Asus Laptop X540BA-RB94 Notebook i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations my budget is about $500 cad

For basic use that system is fine, try to find one with a solid state drive if they are available. ASUS is a good brand model.
