Dedicated GPU and onboard graphics

I am getting a Gigabyte GTX 950 and a lower end MoBo that doesnt support 4k , and in general doesnt have good onboard graphics.

So my question is will i be able to play back 4k and does the onboard graphics even matter when i am not using a integrate gpu ?

Note:it has pcie 16x 3.0 , so no problem there

When you install the video card you will be using that, onboard video does not matter.
