Dedicated graphics performance using system ram

If a dedicated gpu runs out of vram it will use system ram instead. What kind of fps drop occurs when this happens? Is there a way to improve fps when using ddr3 memory, say by using faster ram in dual channel mode? Or are there other bottlenecks? Thanks

Using the fastest system memory that your MB and BIOS accept would be the only way.
