Hello,

I have a Mushkin pen drive that is 64GB.
I'm using it for my PS3 and blu-ray player, and for it to be compatible with those devices, it needs to be FAT32.

I'm using the program called GUIformat

My question is, what is the default allocation unit size for a drive that size ?
There isn't a default option, so I tried googling it.

Ehow states:
According to Hitachi, the recommended cluster size for a 16GB FAT32 partition is 4KB, the recommended cluster size for a 64GB FAT32 partition is 16KB, the recommended cluster size for a 128GB FAT32 partition is 32KB and the recommended cluster size for a 256GB partition is 64KB.

but another tomshardware thread had it at 4096

So i'm not really which to go with.
If someone could help me out, that would be great,
thanks.

Anyone have an idea ?

With my Mushkin flash drive, if I use Disk Management, the only choices are exFat and NTFS.

But if I use GUIformat, I can format it to FAT32, but it doesn't have a default setting and lets you choose through a few allocation unit sizes.
