I'm on a Lenovo Legion y540 81sx, with an intel 512gb m.2 pcie nvme 660p ssd.
When my pc is performing demanding tasks like playing a high end game, after a few minutes it will freeze, then bluescreen with a device_setup_manager code, followed by ,,default boot device missing or boot failed'' screen in the bios.
Restarting fixes this, and the laptop works normally, as long as its not demanding.
In the event viewer I see a ,,Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490'' error.
Now I'm wondering if its a failing ssd or overheating and restarting, as I didn't change the thermal paste for a long time and it can get to above 85 temps.

What "high end" games are you playing?

Source?

What other "demanding tasks" cause freezes?

What, if any, error codes, warnings, or informational events appear in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Veiwer just before or at the time of the freezes and/or "device missing" bluescreens?

More information needed.

The game is Insurgency Sandstorm on Unreal 4. I've tried limiting the fps, and running everything on lowest but it still bluescreened.

Other games like CS2, or Mortal Kombat 11 don't have this problem, I moved Insurgency to my other drive, a hdd and it works so I guess it's solved.

In the reliability monitor I only see warnings about windows not being shutdown correctly without elaboration after the crash, but during one crash theres two critical bad_module_info
event name: APPCRASH
Module name with error: StackHash_0000,
and
Lenovo.Modern.Im.Controller
event name: APPCRASH
Module name with error: StackHash_2beb

The event viewer had the metadata staging problems.

The ,,default boot device missing or boot failed'' also came up when i was downloading something large, I left, and came back to that message.
