Defeating Mephistopheles

Ok, I give - how do I defeat Mephistopheles?
I'm a well-into-epic-level sorceror, but none of my spells do him any
damage, save Greater Ruin, and I only had one of those.
His damage resistance is able to handle everything else I've thrown at
him.
Aribeth and Deekin are dead, and I don't think they did much damage
anyway.
M's Disjunction doesn't seem to have an effect.
He is vulnerable to the Bigby's Hand spells, and my 10 regen per turn is
handling everything he can dish out. So essentially it's a stalemate, at
least as long as my spells hold out (which won't be much longer.)

I want to defeat him, I don't want to banish him even tho I know his
true name.
How can I do this?

Thanks!

Lance

Meph is so magic resistant that you basically have to beat him to death.
If your party can't do that then you are just SOL. You may have to bite
the bullet and banish him (which my guy didn't have the option to do
since I guess I didn't choose to learn his name from the namer).

His vulnerable to acid (pretty much the only thing, besides super-strong
fighter hits). Unfortunately there aren't that many acid spells around,
especially ones that would do enough damage. Haven't tried a mage against
him yet myself, though (I'm getting there...), so I don't know any
particular mage-tactics that would work well against him.

best method yet, don't send a spellcaster to fight a highly magic resistant
entity. send a weapon master or a warrior. and to ensure the entities
defeat, let em use the vorpal weapon that has acidic properties, bought from
one devil in Hell!!!

Well.. If you still have a save from before you went through the portal to
fight him.. Stock up on bombs. Buy choking powders, and also buy anything
acid that you can attack him with. Throwing the choking powders followed by
the acid bombs is a very effective technique while you let your henchmen
beat up on him. As also stated, use all summons you have, and try to banish
him.. But I recommend banishing the second or third time you fight him.

Hope I helped

There're also reports that magic users can summon an elder water elemental,
which with luck, will cast the spell "Drown" on big M, and with more luck,
big M fails to save. Then a cast of Melf's Acid Arrow will do the job.

I doubt the OP is willing to start all over with a new character though.
(The OP might play HotU again later, but also would want to complete it with
the current character)

Assuming you're concerned about the "roleplaying" of the situation...

Mephistopheles is effectively immortal. You can destroy his
manifestation on this plane of existence, but that just banishes him to
his own plane. That's the only victory you can achieve, whether you
fight him or use his True Name. In fact, you're better off using his
"True Name," since then you can dictate terms, and your allies won't be
killed in the crossfire.

If you really want to fight him... then you need an epic level meleer
with a powerful magic weapon that does acid damage. A sorceror's not
going to pull it off.

Do you have the spell Mestil's Acid Sheath? Try using that and about 20
potions of heal. Just run in and let him hit ya

Works....but bit of a dumb-ass approach roleplaying wise. Why oh why can't
there be a strong offensive spell which causes acid damage ?!

But true, like someone said, Meph is basically a god, and should indeed be
impossible to completely destroy regardless of your own abilities (melee vs
magic). True Name should be the only way it can be done, if you are strictly
role-playing, however anti-climactic that may be.
