Question Defective 4080 ?

I built my pc last month and have had no issues running any game maxed out 4k. But today games became almost unplayable. I frequently get dips from 150fps down to 5fps for several seconds. I had played an hour of Battlefield 1 when the issue randomly started. I thought it was a server issue at first but after launching hitman, deadspace and hogwarts all have the same issue now. Tried a driver update but no luck. Any suggestions before I try to contact Gigabyte support ?

Try removing the driver on the GPU altogether then reinstalling the latest driver sometimes bugs can occur when updating

tried but still having the issue. Forgot to add depending on game it also causes parts of the scene or characters look like they're on low settings when fps dips.
