[SOLVED] Defective ram slot?

So I bought a new 4gb ram stick for my Acer E5-575g-5419 which already had 4 gigs of ram. So I try to fit the new ram in the empty slot but the notch on the slot doesn't match with the ram stick. So I take out my older ram stick and try to fit it in the empty slot, but that too doesn't fit!!. The new ram fits perfectly in one slot but not another.
What should I do? I think this is a manufacturing defect of the motherboard.

You have to flip the ram module.

Yes I flipped the ram stick and it fits. But is this the correct way? Because in all the YouTube videos I have watched , the four black chips on the stick should be facing up.

This worked ! Thank you . I was afraid at first that it would damage the mobo but everything's fine.
