Define S thumbscrews not tightened?

For some reason I just can't get the upper (window side) thumbscrew to reach the hole. The lower one is done with ease. But does it matter if it has that tiny cap? Panel seems to be holding up alright and there doesn't seem to be any gap between the panel and the case, other than the back where the thumbscrew is.

Its probably not lined up correctly. Push the panel in tighter at the top, or try moving it slightly up or down. If it won't line up, remove the panel and reinsert it. My Fractal 5 is a bit fidgety too.

Yeah, not te first time this happened, but never had to fight with it this long. Could I solve it with installing longer thumbscrews? Can I even remove the originals? Will longer ones interrupt with something?

You can probably remove the originals by just turning and slightly pulling, but it seems the problem isn't the length of the screws but the alignment. You can check the inside of the case to see if longer screws would touch anything, but I wouldn't expect an issue with that.
