My computer gets stuck when defraging and then goes into defrag again every computer restart in an endless loop.
I have got around this problem in the past going into F8 Windows startup and choosing Last Know Good Configuration but for the first time it didnt work today.
The only way i was able to get the computer to boot normally was to choose a system restore point.
Thank god there was a restore point on the computer this time sometimes there is not, or i don't know how i would have handled this.
I did disable automatically reboot after system crash, should i have not done that?
and if not, how to i enable automatically reboot after system crash?
Any ideas why Last know good configuration didn't work this time?
And what is the proper way to stop a manual scheduled defrag in the future so this doesnt happen again?

Check health of your drive.
Use HDtune health. Post screenshot.
(upload to imgur.com and post link)

Do not run defrag on a failing drive.

i ran hd sentinel a couple months ago.

here are some pics of the results
(for some reason its not allowing me to upload images here as i usualy do)

This has happened before in the last couple months so i ran defrag from command prompt, then after i ran chkdsk from command prompt and i finished without getting stuck.

One time i ran chkdsk from command prompt and it got stuck then i just restarted and chose run at next restart and and it finished without getting stuck

The drive has 1 relocated sector and 2 pending sectors.
Slight health deterioration.

You can resolve pending sectors with Victoria software.
Run Test&Repair Scan with remap option.
Pending sectors should go to zero after this.

thank you i will!
should i do it in safe mode?

and how do i disable defrag the next time i run into this problem?
Can i do a command prompt in safe mode and then enable it later when i need it?

okay how do i view test results?
You have to run Victoria with administrative privileges (as admin).
It could not relocate bad sector, because of "Access is denied" error.
It shows error address LBA 423695844.

To avoid scanning entire drive again you can input start/stop LBA address
420'000'000 - 430'000'000.
It will finish faster.

After done, check SMART attributes in HDD Sentinel. Pending sectors should be zero.

what next?

Question #6
Q: In API mode, under Windows 8, defect recovery using the "Remap" method on the HDD does not work. The message “ try Remap…Error ” is displayed in the log. However, in PIO mode on another computer, the defects were normally fixed.
A: You need to read the answer to question #3. The fact is that Windows 7 and above are overly concerned about security and prohibit writing to hard drives that have logical partitions (even if these partitions are hidden). And since a remap is, in fact, a direct write to the drive, the solution to the problem will be similar to question # 3: you need to disable the MBR, and then treat the defects.

What version are you using? You have cropped out version info in all your screenshots.
Try latest version.

wow i just noticed i wrote defrag is getting stuck in th etitle and first post i meant to say chkdsk.

I recently ran chkdsk without getting stuck!
I ran it normally not in safe mode.

I believe something else was running when i have tried to run chkdsk in the past and was getting it stuck.
Wish i knew.
