I hate the computer my work has given me and while they allow me to have my personal laptop alongside, it cannot access any of the network resources I need to develop the software I am working on... ie. access to certain databases or servers. I don't want to do anything malicious other then develop the software on my own laptop with my preferred tools. Is there any way I can somehow tunnel my personal laptops internet through my work laptops connection so that I can access these resources? I have very limited abilities to install any software on the work computer and it is running Windows 7. I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but I am an all star dev when I have access to my proper setup and this slow as molasses laptop is absolutely killing me. (Not to mention the fn and ctrl keys are flipped and driving me absolutely insane!!!!)

What you're actually trying to do is get fired, really, really quickly.

Those corporate rules exist for a reason. "All star devs" being one of those reasons.

If the current laptop and network resources are hindering you, write up a proposal as to exactly why, and present it to your manager.

This is a very bad idea, even if it might be possible (but probably not with the amount it's locked down).

You need to talk to your IT people, say you can't work properly for xyz reasons, and ask them to help - chances are, you can get your preferred tools installed, they may be able to swap the laptop for another brand with the keys where you want them, or a desktop, or or or...

Doing this is a recipe to get fired with cause, no severance, possible legal repurcussions ("you were trying to take proprietary data to our competitors"), and have your laptop wiped, confiscated, or destroyed.
