Deleted hiberfyl.sys from an old HDD on which I have windows 7 installed.

I googled it to know of any consequences and everyone seemed to say the same thing, it's perfectly safe to delete and there's no damage to the OS.

Recently I tried booting up from that OS on an old PC and it won't work.

So i ask around some more and as it turns out I'm an idiot.

So my question is, is there any way to salvage this ?

Could I use the hiberfyl.sys file from another HDD that also has Win7 installed or anything else ?

I would like to have the option of using this old HDD instead of reinstalling Windows 7 and formatting the hard drive.

Sorry for the wall of text and thanks for any advice.

The existence or absence of the hibernation file...

The existence or absence of the hibernation file, hiberfile.sys, will not prevent an OS from booting up.

However, moving that drive and its OS to a different system, as you seem to have done, usually does not result in booting up.
