want to upgrade cpu in dell 2320 from a I7-2600s Sandybridge to a I7- 3770 Ivybridge, using motherboard that came with system. Motherboard is a ONV103. Will this work or does motherboard need to be changed.

I7 2600's are the max supported for that motherboard.

It's a modified Laptop board, there is nothing like it that will work.

According to Dell you have an H61 chipset which supports the 3770K BUT the latest bios for your motherboard is in 2012 where the 3770 was released. I am not sure if Dell included 3770K support in the 2012 bios.

Note that it won't handle the heat of a 3770K so the 3770S at 65W is fine.

The BIOS does not support anything beyond 2600 😉

The 2330 from the next year does support Ivy but just like the 2320 it's based off a modified laptop board with limited upgradabilty and a little better cooling.
