WE bought (6) 5150 in one shot. Within the last 2 weeks, about 2 months
after they surpassed their 1 yr warranty, 2 of them decided that if you move
them, they will reboot/crash. If you do not touch the machine they are
fine, but if for instance they have a keyboard, mouse and display plugged
in and you don't touch them, they work fine. But once you move them even a
millimeter, they shutoff. Coincidence or not? Sometimes you can type on
them and they work fine, but if you move the laptop ever so slightly left or
right, they will simply poweroff. The power actually shows that the
computer is running, but the display is black and you have to hold down the
power button for more than 4 seconds to power it off and reboot. I find it
very ineteresting that 2 of these machines out of 6, aka 33%, of them are
suddenly doing this. I wonder if this is a known issue, or if other's have
had this problem. Of course being out of warranty now, it is a $700 repair
according to Dell. But I think something is up here, I think there was a
manufacturing defect that might be proven if enough of these begin showing
up. At purchase this was a top of the line 3Ghz machine so we may not have
seen all the effects that may be coming. I will certainly be keeping an eye
out. If you have had this problem please contact me at
