Dell Dimension 9200 processor upgrade issue occurred when trying to
upgrade to E6600 , and E7600 processors, but both didn't work. Now I'm going to try x6800 extreme processor but will it work for this pc? my Dell service tag is :34TWPC1
Specs:
Current processor :E6400 core 2 duo.
Rams: 2GB OCZ 1066Mhz
HDD: 160GB WD
chipset: Intel 965 chipset
VGA: MSI NX7600GT
BIOS: DXP061-020501.EXE

Solution
That mother board appears to be the same as my Dimension E520. 4 phase VRM,and vertical MOSFETS. Just better GPU slot layout, and more expansion slots.
Be sure you have the latest BIOS. It probably only supports 65nm CPUs with 1066fsb. E7600 won't work, and Intel reused some CPU numbers Some E6600 are Core2Duo 2.4Ghz 4M cache, and some are 45nm 1333fsb 3.06Ghz 2M cache Core2 chips. X6800, QX6700/6800 should work. Max. memory is 8GB DDR2-800. The 4 phase VRM is rare in a Dell, the 2 slot wide space for a video card is rare in a BTX. I post as Retrorockit at Overclock.net In LGA775 forum and others. Look in my sig. to see what one of those things can do.
