I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 that had a little soda spilled on the keyboard. There after the LCD screen is extremely faint. I hooked up an external monitor to see if it could be the video card or motherbaord. An external monitor shows everything fine and I can load up Windows and go about my business. I assumed the LCD Inverter went bad and I have tried 2 new inverters and nothing improved. I tried a new LCD screen and still nothing. I might add the soda has been cleaned up on all parts before trying any replacement parts. I am at a losss now and would like any insights other PC techs might have to offer. The Dell Bios PC self test spitts out a Dell error code 0322 indicating that the LCD inverter can't be accessed (I know this from using an external monitor & pressing F5 during POST). I might add that the battery won't charge either but not sure if that was a pre-exsisting condition or not before the laptop was dropped off to me. Normally I'd say motherboard but the thing works fine if connected to an external monitor with no crashes or anything.
