Question Dell G7 Laptop not detecting Headset mic

I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser PC 37X's but when they arrived I realized that my laptop didn't have a mic jack so I bought this https://www.amazon.com/Kingtop-Adap...on/dp/B01I3A47I4?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_17047881011 adapter. But when I tried plugging it in only the headphones worked correctly. The mic wasn't even detected as being plugged in. Any help is welcome.

Without a link to the laptopin question, I can only speculate. But i would imagine the port you are plugging into is headphone only. The mic will be built into the laptop next to the webcam.

The port also has to take microphone. If it is a headphone port, a microphone will not be detected with it.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a link to the exact model I bought, but that does seem likely. Is there any way to fix this?

So unless your laptop has a MIC-IN somewhere, where u can plug a cable in, with some kind of adapter..... your next option will be some kind of soundcard USB dongle with the appropriate inputs.

That would work, and usually USB offers a little better clarity. If you have only a single port on the laptop it SHOULD be standard 4 pole jack, if you look REAL close does the little icon next to it look like headphones or a headset?
