I have the Dell Inspiron One 2305 and just this morning it stopped working. I was doing a System Restore to factory settings on windows 7 and when I got to the recovery manager the screen went black, but it was still on. The computer wouldn't allow me to hold the power button the shut it off so I just unplugged the cord. I wasn't in the recovery process yet, just the screen that wants you to confirm the restore. I tried putting a different hard drive in thinking that the hard drive went bad in the process but that still didn't work. So when I reboot it I just get a black screen but the DVD drive and hard drive still make a noise. I ended up unhooking the hard drive all together but when I did that and booted it up the bios didn't even pop up, so I don't know if it is something with the display or what because I did take the computer apart to see if all my cables were plugged in right but I don't know. I want to say thanks for all the help in advanced.

If it turns on but the screen stays completely black not even the back light i have a fix for it... My inspiron 2305 would turn on but the screen would stay black with no backlight even but the power light would stay solid white like it was working fine but screen not work okay. So i plug something into the HDMI input in the back to see if screen was fuctional at all and i hit the input button to try get it to switch to hdmi and but still nothing no video no backlight even with something in the HDMI in. So i come to the conclusion pc's fine but im not getting video. Also, another key thing is that there also is no audio. So if your having a similar problem to this (no video,no audio but power light stays solid white) then you can fix it easy. To fix it i did research on dell.com forums and found the answer from another guy having this problem also it is common... What you need is a new AV daughterboard. I bought one off ebay for $20 and when it arrived i plug it in and boom screen comes on with no flaws. I even have the part number for the AV board it's DV454 thats the one you need.
