I have a Dell Studio 17 model 1737 laptop with HDMI out port. When I connect the laptop to my Samsung 52 inch LCV TV via an HDMI cable my laptop screen turns black, and my laptop stops functioning. I have tried extending the monitor before connecting the cable, but nothing seems to work.

Thank you. I played around, and found that I can use my TV as a monitor if I disconnect DVR and use DCMI 1 port. I think the DCMI cable I purchased to use in my TV's DCMI 3 port is defective or the DCMI 3 port is defective.
