Battery can be swapped in both. Both already have solid state drives in them but pretty sure you can't add in a second one if that is what you are asking. Battery upgrades would depend on exactly what they already have, there are two battery sizes for those, but from the factory they should have the larger 60 Wh one. They also make a 42 Wh for them. Keep in mind the 7480 has a high battery failure rate, not sure about the 5400. We use both models at work, and really any Dell I have seen in the past 4 generations has had high rates of battery failure.
