Dell latitude E5440 does not start up.

My Dell latitude E5440 does not start up. After I left it overnight with power on, morning I found it dead. Pressing the power button only shows some flickering of light in the button itself. Releasing the button makes it go dead again.
Checked the power adapter for any faults but there are none. Removed the battery and power cable and kept the power button pressed for 45 seconds for static release. Put the power soures back but no change. Tried using alternate power sources but to no avail. Please suggest..

Try turning it on without the battery, only on wall power. If that does not help, cheapest thing to try first is a new power adapter. After that you need to have someone look at the jack and the motherboard, may need a new motherboard.
