Question Dell Optiplex 580 upgrade options

Hi all I have this older computer still works pretty well just wondering if anyone knows of any tweaks I could do to it to make it work best. I upgraded the ram to 16GB. I plan to upgrade the HDD to a larger one. This PC is for my kids to use they would like to play some older steam games and it lags at times so I wonder if there is just a bunch of junk on it.

any particular size that would work best with this PC I mean obviously doesn't need a huge one. And I don't know if there is a size restriction with this older Dell
