Question Dell Optiplex 7010 CPU compatibility

I have an Inspiron 660 that won't post. As far as I know, the motherboard is dead. I bought a Dell Optiplex 7010 motherboard on eBay, but it won't post. I know the socket type is the same, but do I have to flash the bios in order to use an i5 3330?

The 7010 uses a Q77 chipset that isn't compatible with the i5 3330. The inspiron used the B75 chipset. Flashing wont help in this regard.

How are there prebuilts of the 7010 with the 3330 listed on newegg then? The listing says it is a Q77 board, so...

Well, the dell 7010 documentation (pg12) doesn't state the i5 3330 as supported. Dell has made several variants of the same model before so I'd imagine that the i5 3330 7010's are just a one off and probably have a different model number board. But if you want to make sure the board isn't at fault or doa, pickup a cheap celeron or pentium that is on the support list for 5 bucks or so and go from there.
