I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 full tower with the i7 3770 and I am having an issue with the SATA ports.

I had an SSD, and a DVD drive hooked up to SATA0 and SATA1 working perfectly fine. Now,
I went to add a 1TB HDD hooked up to SATA2 and will not recognize within the OS - even after initialization.

The 1TB is only recognized in the BIOS.

What is going on?

Hey there, @Tyler Yaccarino!

Could you please share a screenshot of your Disk Management in Windows (e.g. via Imgur)? It would really help us assist you with this.

In order to make a hard drive visible and accessible through the file explorer (This PC/My Computer), you not only need to Initialize the HDD but also to Partition & Format it from Disk management as well. This is how the HDD should pop up properly in your PC.

If you are still facing issues recognizing the drive in Disk Management, I'd advise you to swap the SATA cable and the SATA port where the HDD is connected to the motherboard.

Keep us posted if you have more questions or concerns.
Cheers,
SuperSoph_WD :)
