i have a dell optiplex 790 usff and its got a nvidia geforce 210 graphics card in it already and i was wanting to put my ceton infinitv 4 tv tuner card in it as well. would my computer be able to handle it without overloading it or starting an electrical fire. I'm not sure the power supply can handle it. thoughts???

Solution
Verify that you have the Optiplex 790 Ultra Small Form Factor (USFF), because according to the Tech Guide. the USFF does not have any expansion slots.

If you are running just a normal Small Form Factor (SFF) system, I'd also ask that you provide your CPU and amount of RAM installed. It's looks like that system has a 235 watt power supply, which might be pushing the edge on adding a graphics card AND the Ceton card. I'd probably look at adding just the card and looking at getting an external cablecard device (with it's own power).

Solution
hmm ok it is the usff. your probably right. it looked like it had 1 more expansion slot from the outside. haven't cracked it open yet. my ceton infinitv 4 has been enjoyably but keeps getting corrupt. maybe ill try the new external network one.

thanks

i'm on my 3rd card. the first one the firmware got corrupt some how and i believe it happened to the other one as well from what ceton said. i would like to network my tuner to my living room where i have a zotac mini pc for my htpc. so far i love my zotac. i gotta run a wire for network to hopefully fix networked tuner. it wont work over wireless. do you think the network tuner would work better or should i stick to the internal pcie one? i have an htpc in my room with the infinitv4 in it now that i record and watch shows now. well when it was working. fortunately i am still under warranty.

i can't possibly see the ceton tv tuner usb being able go support hd video or multiple tunings. if i do external im thinking the new infinitv 6 eth. ceton is working with me to figure out the problem. i had 10 days left before the extended warranty from the card replacement ended. just made it!
