Hello, I've recently been having some problems with my i7-4790 Dell OptiPlex 9020. Last night, I was gaming and suddenly my PC froze and didn't respond at all, I couldn't even Ctrl + Alt + Del. I did a hard shutdown by holding the power button. Since then, on every boot, I keep getting BSODs after the pc runs for 5 minutes and now its so bad I immediately get a BSOD after the windows logo. The BSOD messages seemed to vary a lot, including:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
DRIVER IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL

I then ran Dell ePSA and while testing memory, an info messaged popped saying "Memory issues resolved" and then it showed me many of these errors while testing memory:
  • System board - Data errors (error code : 2000-0261)
  • Location: DIMM2
  • Address : 00000003E2519778, Expected : 2020202020202020, Actual : 0020202020202020
(Many more of these messages at DIMM1, DIMM2, DIMM3, DIMM4), at many more addresses)

I then physically checked my hardware and removed and reinserted my processor and RAM as well as updated BIOS and ran ePSA again, the memory error messages are still there but now it shows me errors while testing processor (Running Dirty Cache Reads Test) as well:

  • CPU 6 (ID 0X6) data error at address 0xD19CF740. Expected 2E6308C3, but found 0E6308C3 (error code : 2000-0114)
  • CPU 7 (ID 0X7) data error at address 0xD19CF740. Expected 2E6308C3, but found 0E6308C3 (error code : 2000-0114)
And now, I get another BSOD that says "Unsupported Processor"

This all being said, however, no problems occur at all until the OS is booted.

Can someone tell me what piece of hardware is exactly at fault here? Do I need to order a new motherboard and a processor as well or just the motherboard?

My specs are:

i7-4790
16 GB DDR3 RAM (4x4GB)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750
Windows 10

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Can you elaborate on the loadout for your ram?

Dell OptiPlex 9020
Which form factor of the OptiPlex 9020 do you have?
Just 4 standard 1600 mhz 4GB sticks, 1 is a samsung(stock) 1 is an HP (added right after purchase), 2 are kingston (added 2 years later). I also tried running with 2 sticks only.

Its a minitower

Mixing DIMMs from three different manufacturers is not a recipe for a trouble free system. You should really fit a matched set of identical DIMMs in a kit of 4 (not two pairs of DIMMs).

Download MemTest86+ and test each DIMM separately. Any errors, throw the DIMM into the trash bin.
https://memtest.org/
I cant even make it to the login screen. How do I download and run that? What do these errors mean precisely? Is it possible my pc has been running with these errors for a long time and only the windows needs to be reinstalled? Are my motherboard and processor done for good?

Did you visit the MemTest86+ web site from the link I included in my previous post?

After you've downloaded the MemTest86+ ISO, you need to burn it on to a USB memory stick (I use a program called Rufus).

Then, when you've created the bootable USB memory stick containing MemTest86+, connect it to your computer, enter the BIOS and set the USB memory stick as the first bootable device.

Restart the computer and boot up MemTeat86+ from USB, run a full set of memory tests and hope you get zero errors.

If you do get any errors in MemTest86+, repeat the test on each DIMM, one at a time, to work out which stick is at fault. Any faults, bin the DIMM.

For more info, read the guides on the MemTest86+ and Rufus web sites. If none of this makes sense, take the computer to a repair shop and ask them to investigate.
