Dell PowerEdge 2950 Gaming server?

Solution
Gmod and CS won't mind a 2950, it's already going to be well above the original reqs. Minecraft will run OK on it, as long as you're not trying to host a huge number of players. The 'good' news is the 2950 can take a whole lot more memory (64GB), and 5300/5400 series quad core procs, so if you can find the parts*, it does have plenty of upgrade room.

*the parts are now 'old' enough in the enterprise market that they're starting to become obscure, and the price could still be low if plentiful, or on the way up as new parts are harder to find.

My only query is does ram frequency matter because as things go this is very slow (667mhz).

it seemed with mine craft memory was important for it but it seems it had to do with amount per player ?? counrter strike I looked at it and its steam thing so I cant help you there

all my games are full retail and don't require steam or anything to hinder me in anyway ..

like etqw was my last time I ran a server and all I needed was to look at this

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.8 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) XP 2800+ processor (3GHz or higher for Windows Vista)
RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
VIDEO CARD: 100% Windows compatible video card
SOUND CARD: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

but I used all Linux server I don't support any games that require steam or any 3ed party client involvement or mandatory internet connection to load or play a game
