[citation][nom]10tacle[/nom]Yep, I've had two Dell laptops in 6 years (Inspiron E1705, XPS 17). Both batteries stopped holding the majority of their charge within the first year of ownership. I bought cheaper OEM replacements but they didn't last any longer than the originals. When you spend over $3k on two laptops in three years, you expect to not have to spend hundreds more in batteries. Those were my last Dell laptops.[/citation]

Ouch. To be fair, your milage may vary, and batteries are constantly improving with wear leveling algorithms and whatnot. My Studio 15 is a bit over 3 years old now, originally it could last 4 and a half hours, now it's at two and a half, which for over three years of heavy daily use isn't bad at all IMHO.

wouldnt touch a dell with a 10 foot poll, but it could be worse, it could be an hp
