Can I install 2 2GB, and 4 1GB memory modules in a Dell Studio XPS 435MT desktop, or do I have to install 3 2GB and 3 1GB modules?

Hello,

You need to install 3 matched pairs in slots 1,2,3 (white) and another matched pairs in slots 4,5,6 (black). So you can go with three 4GB with three 2GB modules or you can go with three 2GB along with three 1GB. As you know the first is the better of the two.
