While the manuals;
shows that the laptop can accept an i7, quad core. The issue is there's no mention of which models are supported and Dell's of that era are notorious for having a white list of parts. If it's not supported, you won't see a POST/boot.
I'd try and stick to the 2nd Generation Intel mobile processor since the chipset is an HM67 but in 2023, you're actually wasting any resource on the laptop...as they're well behind what you'd need for day to day tasks and today's apps.
