i think i will now save some money to one day get that kind of monitor... I still using an old crt 1024x768. and runs great on today needs. my old lcd died after my girlfriend put some alcohol on the screen

The only thing I think about after 1080p is that I will need a beefier GPU to run my games on high.

My understanding is that the upcoming 28" 4k monitor isn't an UltraSharp, evidenced by its name (P2815Q) and its lower price tag.

been using a 30" 2560x1600 for years so I'm not seeing this as practical. Its actually a very small screen as the wider it is, the smaller it is for any given diagonal size. Websites are still designed for tall screens. Wide just doesn't work for anything other then movies unless the screen is very large and has high res. I'll get another 2 30" monitors when they come down in price a little.

I think there is a typo there. If the model number is U3415W, then it is 34 inches, not 24.

This is pointless, since everyone nowadays has a Smart TV. Since i have a Smart TV, there's no way i'm watching movies on my monitor, no matter how big and good is.

EDIT: So I read that this is in FACT a THIRTY FOUR INCH screen, and not a 24".

Jup, you got it wrong there.
The '34' in U3415W indicates that this is a 34-inch monitor, not 24-inch.

This might actually end up being a good gaming/productivity monitor.
Most of the width from an eyefinity setup but without any borders and taller than the other ****x1080 ultra widescreens out there so you can fit more of your documents in the view.

No one beats Dell and monitors... NO ONE. Nec is good, but way too costly and thus not in the running. Even if rich I wouldn't buy NEC, I have some Dell IPS monitors (LED backlit, etc) that are amazing. You can hardly imagine anything better.

I'd probably consider purchasing one if it was in the $200-225's price range. It's a bit taller and wider than 1080p and a better overall dimension for cinematic movie viewing. It's just tall enough and wide enough to be pretty reasonable for much better overall multitasking. This is probably the perfect dimension for someone wanting a bit more multitasking space, but a bit limited on desktop space.

It's worth noting that Dell generally does a good job with making the bezels very score and not unusual so they actually work well for both horizontal or vertical triple monitor setups.
