Hi. I just bought the Dell Studio XPS 435t off of ebay and was somewhat disappointed to find that the CPU socket is only LGA1366. All the 1366 CPU's are ridiculously expensive. I was curious as to how many problems I would run into when trying to upgrade the motherboard. I've read that the mobo is ATX sized but has some proprietary features (Thanks, Dell!). I am pretty sure that the I/O board comes off, but I can "surgically" remove it if needed.

TL;DR - If the I/O board comes off can I just slap a standard ATX motherboard in this XPS 435T case?

Thanks!

The current CPU is an i7-950 3.07 ghz quad. The one I'm looking at is the i7-975 3.33ghz quad. But when I look on Amazon they are $700, and on eBay they average around $300-600.
