Go with the Mac. There is better communication it support for the specific things you will be doing on your computer. But...make sure you are comfortable actually working on one yourself. As far as the Dell goes I had an XPS 630i and drove it like I stole it for 10 years. Dell sucks a bit more lately but... I'll tell you my opinion on a prebuilt pc. Look at the Number of comments. If there's lots people love them. Good example? Look up q6600 quad core on Newegg.com there are over 3500 comments at my last count and an overwhelming majority of them have the word love in there somewhere. Then look up the e8500 and the e8600 processors. They seem similar but there was something about one that made people want to write about it. The other is just average I guess.. do your research so you don't buy a lemon. And check out opinion on the optanes as well. Could belike my 300.00 add on video card Dell got me to buy.. and the 90 lb stainless steel case that o still have but can't do anything with cause it's wired weird. To much glitz from Dell. The guts aren't worth what you pay.

Iloved my XPS 630i to death. I forgot to mention that. Q6600 quad was a workhorse. 10 years... That's a long time to have a PC....
