Hi,
I'm looking for a fast, efficient desktop to use for video and audio editing. I've been looking at the new XPS 8940 tower and although some reviews have been excellent...a few user reviews I came across...usually gamers, said it gets too hot and the cooling fans are not enough for the system.
I wonder has anyone had any experience of this new model? Would love to get a balanced view before shelling out close to 2000 euro!
Many thanks

Solution
Can you please just build you pc?
It will be much cheaper and you have will much more performance and upgradability. While that XPS isnt that bad,its still lacks upgradability,it has a much weaker GPU than the one in my build, plus it looks soo much better than that XPS.
here is what u can build for 2000e :
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tcs2gJ <-The GPU will be 700$,so the whole build is around 2300$,which is 1940$.

I really appreciate you taking the time to send me the list of parts. Thank you SO MUCH!
Heres the problem with me building myself......
Give me an old gramophone or sewing machine and I can restore it.....give me a computer and I can turn it on!
This is my first time needed a powerful computer and I did consider having it built for me but on their websites, the list of options are endless, and I am concerned about adding parts that are not compatible long term.
So I decided I'd start researching and learn about spec etc. I'm doing a degree in Maths so surely with a month or so of study, I can figure out what I need.....but after 3 days of watching youtube videos etc....I ended up even more confused...the subject is so massive! Spoke to a friend of mine who has a bit of knowledge...but wouldn't have the time to help me choose parts and he said "It takes years...a lifetime. Don't even try, you won't be able to figure this out".
Anyway, I do think with a bit of study I would be able to physically construct a computer but I have no trouble shooting skills....it it didnt work first time...what would I do?
And with the money Im spending, I cant afford to try things out and mess it up.
Perhaps I should take the list you gave me to a pc builder and get them to work from it or similar....or is there any prebuilt PC you'd recommend?
Thanks again for your help....much appreciated.

I agree with the idea of you sending this parts list to someone who knows how to build computers and let them build it.Perhaps a PC service in your town would do it.Here is the problem, the graphics card in my parts list,is not yet available for purchase, but it would really be a shame if we downgrade to RTX 20 series card, since RTX 3080 will be the new "KING" of video cards, its also much faster than the 2080 Ti,which was the previous KING,and i forgot to mention its half the price of a RTX 2080Ti which is around 1300$,so the RTX 3080 is 700$.You can check the difference in the video below.I suggest waiting 2 or 3 weeks,i think they will be available for purchase then.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not in a rush, so can wait a few weeks or even longer if needed to find the right build company. Have been searching google reviews and found a few with excellent reviews but one or two businesses have such low scores and bad reviews...you'd wonder why they bother to stay in business!! I'll have to have my wits about me!!
